Not Missing Out

"Mommy, why can't I go outside and play with my friends?"  begs my six year old daughter with her nose pressed against the glass to see the local boy playing outside.  On this night the bars on our windows must seem like a prison to her.  As her parents we must seem so mean and unfair to make her stay inside.

How do I explain to my young, innocent daughter that the bars are for security and protection?  How do I tell her that boy only has his grandma and no one is there to take care of him and bring him inside?  How do I show her we are loving her by letting her stay up late with a slumber party in the living room with her family when she wishes she could still be playing outside as he is?  How do I help teach her how blessed she is?

We are trying not to miss out on God's blessings in life, but He gives so many!  So, I know we do miss a lot.  And we get caught up so much in busyness, stress, or worries.

We are praying for our family to not miss out and always be giving thanks to God for everything. (Eph 5:20).  We are sorry if we have missed out on you in being so focused with ours at times.  We are grateful for you!
